See you on the other side…
It’s 10am Spanish time and currently my view is a mountain side with gorgeous Spanish villas dotted around greenery full of olive trees and pathways that lead high up into the mountain. I’m sitting on the roof of our villa and it’s beautiful. The sun is beaming down and whilst I’m sat in the shade the thermometer reads 32 degrees Celsius … It’s about to be another scorcher of a day!
It’s been so hot that it’s quite unbearable to sunbathe, a holiday tradition of mine! I burnt abit on the second day, thank the Lord for after sun that is all I can say. Whilst I’ve been mulling over my blog and the lack of posting lately, I decided that when I get back home it’s time for a re-vamp. I’m not quite satisfied with my layout at the moment and I think it’s time for a little sprucing up! I’m quite a fussy designer and I’m never truly happy with the final product, that’s just the way I am.
Amongst other blog related thoughts, I briefly digested the negatives of blogging. I’ve experienced some real bitchiness in my short time of blogging and the fakeness that others exude. Getting away has helped me put things into perspective, if anything it has made me determined to carry on and just ‘get over it’. I don’t see the need in all the cattiness. I’m only doing something that I enjoy. It’s not a competition! Besides all of the bitchiness of which doesn’t deserve air time, I have met some lovely genuine people who blog and really enjoy their company. One door closes and another one opens in my eyes.
Back to the villa, laden with terracotta tiles and in true Spanish form, traditional ceramic tiles with blue, white and green paisley style design to each; I feel that maybe it’s time to up sticks and just live the Spanish life. Sun, sea and sangria is my kind of perfect! Holidays for me, highlight the things I want to adjust slightly or just change all together when you get back home. I think the down time, away from the stresses of the everyday grind, give you a new insight into what you want out of the year ahead. I’m going to set myself 3 goals to complete by December 2014. I won’t tell you what they are but watch this space, I’ll be sure to reveal each one through the journey! I am awaiting my first year Uni results too so fingers crossed I pass and then it’s full swing into the Law Degree. So nerve racking!
Well it’s over and out from me, I thought I would share with you my slight Monica (from FRIENDS) hair.. ‘It’s the Humidity!’
Whilst you all laugh at my fro, I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Stay tuned for some more snaps from my holiday…
Hello! I’m Ellie from Rose and Vintage (roseandvintage.blogspot.com) and I was asked by the lovely Jade-Jenna to do a guest post for you all while she is away on holiday (the lucky thing!). I thought I’d post a little summery outfit as the weather has been so nice recently. I love pastels, and summer is the best time to wear them – and the perfect opportunity to make them as girly and cute as possible! I wore a shirt and shorts from Beyond Retro, socks and shoes from Topshop, and an old pin from my mum (which is shaped like a sandwich…does it get better?)
Anyway, have a great week!
After desperately trying to cling on to my mid-twenties for as long as possible, last week I waved the white flag and finally embraced turning 27. I decided that approaching my 30s shouldn’t be something to mourn, but in fact something that should be celebrated; after all, it’s not everyone that gets to reach this age so I am very blessed. So enough with the mushy stuff, I’m sure you lovely readers of Jade’s blog don’t want me rambling on!
So onto what I wore: We had pretty decent weather on the day (June 24th ) so I decided to expose a bit (actually a lot) of leg and wore a lovely draped H&M jersey dress paired with my new stunning River Island Kimono, courtesy of the boyf, and my trusty Nike wedged trainers. A typical Lydia look, some would say.
As I type, I’m sure Jade is laying on a pictoresque Spanish beach, sipping a sangria and topping up her tan.
I’m sure you can detect the jealous undertones in that sentence LOL.
I guess this is adiós for now.
For more ‘Lydia-ness’, I blog here: Bits of This and That blog
As Jade is on her Jollies we have hijacked her blog for the day 😀
Chelsey is currently on her second week of her George at Asda work experience and loving every minute and Megan has wisdom tooth ache and helping to plan a wedding. Considering we have finished uni for the summer and was dreading having months of boredom until we go back in late september we haven’t stopped, we have done so much already and have a lot more to look forward to, i.e going to see the libertines on saturday! 😀
Happy Sunday Lovelies!
Ok so I’ve gone spending wild lately and it’s all because of my holiday that’s coming up!
I know it’s only Spain, but I thought it’s about time I treated myself to a few pretties for the sunshine.
I’m going to our house in Spain so it’ll be lovely to get away and relax in the sunshine with all the comforts of our home here.
We have Wifi and Sky (not that I’ll be using them) I plan sipping cocktails and tanning by the pool!
I’m in desperate need of some mind and soul down time… I have been far too stressed with work and my degree lately.
I didn’t want to go too mad with spending so I tried to stick with the shops that are really cost effective.
I got majority of my purchases from Primark and H&M and I couldn’t resist a little number from River Island.
I’m a sucker for white. I love white with a tan and it’s such a gorgeous fresh colour that you can’t really go wrong with on holiday.
I’ve been totally crushing over Grafea bags and I am in absolute love with Grafea ‘Wild at Heart’ which if you don’t already know, it is a gorgeous white leather backpack with like black and white leopard print to the front. It is just gorgeous and I’ve wanted one for ages! They retail around £170. Not quite in my budget range at present!
To my surprise in Primark they have a lush plain white backpack in faux leather, but it looks really nice! I thought at Primark prices how could I go wrong. If it scuffed or discoloured I wouldn’t be so devastated.
Grafea ‘Wild at Heart’ // £170 – Primark Backpack // £9.00
I also wanted to have a varied palette of clothing, I love bright colours and Summer is by far my favourite season! I’ve got a few plain items so that I can mix and match them with other items I’m taking with me. I don’t even mind clashing the odd print. If you know me you know that I seriously love my leopard print and I’m not afraid to say it! I don’t know why, it just appeals to me. I’m fussy on the kind of leopard print it is though, some can be quite tacky. I’ve got to draw a line somewhere.
For around the pool I like to have a comfy dress I can put on or a kaftan. In H&M they have both a leopard print jersey dress and a leopard print kaftan and as I couldn’t quite make up my mind which one I needed more, so I chose both! Oops! I definitely don’t need anymore kimonos but managed to add two more to my collection! The pale pink with grey floral print is lush! Looks so girly and pretty on. To boost my colour pallet I went with a neon coral kimono also from H&M to maybe wear with a denim dress I have or even with the white scallop lace dress I got from H&M. To top off my bright pink costume I will be wearing my flower garland from Primark to keep the hair out of my face, perfect little find for a nifty £4!
This was the result of my shopping spree! Some gorgeous pieces from H&M! Bags from Primark and Sliders and a beautiful maxi dress from River Island.
I absolutely love that sliders (Birkenstock style flip flops) are totally in this season! I have about 4 pairs so I didn’t have to go out and buy more. I did however come across the most beautiful gold pair in River Island so couldn’t leave them there. They were meant to be mine. The last pair and in my size. I think it was fate! (So I tell myself.)
In the white lovin’ phase I’m going through at the moment I stocked up on white items from Primark. I got a gorgeous quilted makeup case with a cute little bow with gold detail on the front, to match the oversized white bag I also purchased from Primark of course. Such a bargain! £3 for the makeup bag and £9 for the bag. Now if those prices don’t excite you as a fellow bargain hunter I don’t know what will!
I know a lot of bloggers have this camera case and I have seen a couple of people carrying them and although I’m not one to like having something someone else has it got a hold of me. I searched for stylish camera cases and there is just nothing out there! This camera case fits my Canon SLR in perfectly! So I bit the bullet and purchased it, even if I just use it for holiday, its just such a handy piece to have without carrying my giant ugly camera case around. At a cheeky £6 from Primark how could I say no?!
To even out my white love I have actually brought a colourful array of items for the evening. Starting with the most gorgeous dress from River Island, again going with the leopard print which is combined with a colourful floral motif. I could not have been more in love when I spotted it. Not only that but I saw that it was ON SALE! Down from £35 it’s now £25.
How is it that when you queue up you spot something else in the corner of your eye that you just can’t live without! The necklace might aswel have been calling my name it was that beautiful, a gorgeous jewel encrusted chain of fabulousness !
Last but not least, if you follow me on Twitter you will see I purchased a New Look pair of sunglasses which are a cute copycat of Quay Australia’s Frankie Frame. Not obviously as amazing as their range but a great cheap alternative for £5!!!! I Love the pink tone in the retro clear frame. The Quay Australia ‘Frankie’ glasses retail at approx. $45…
Now that I have finished sharing with you my purchases, I should really be packing these items in my suitcase, but in true Jade style I will be packing tomorrow when I have finished my additional final bits and bobs shop! Eeeek.
Thank you for reading my post, please feel free to leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!
Feel free to check out my new youtube channel I hope you like it.
This is my last post before I go away so stay tuned for some fabulous guest bloggers I have lined up for my blog! I’m super excited to read their posts!
Have a fabulous week lovelies.
Recently I have been working on new projects and I will be showcasing alot of these in the up and coming weeks!
I have been establishing the photography I want to include in my blog.
Like I have said before, I am not a photographer, I just have a huge passion for photography and always have had.
I enjoy making people feel good about themselves and if I can do that by styling them, doing their makeup, styling their hair and then photographing them, then so be it!
I feel even though photography isn’t my profession, it is a fantastic and rewarding hobby. I do get alot of satisfaction out of my photo’s being displayed and the feedback I get from them is an added bonus!
I work with girls that aren’t models and don’t aspire to be models. Don’t we all want pretty photo’s of ourselves? Of course we do! That doesn’t make us vain, it just makes us feel beautiful and it’s a lovely feeling sharing that with others.
I love the ‘transformation’ process, I think that’s where I get the ‘kick’ out of my work. I love a before and after, especially when the person I’m photographing love’s it as much, if not more, than I do!
I will be posting some of my photography work this week. This is going to be titled as ‘Pure Vanity’.
I will have interviews with the models and I’ll be giving advice on how you can get involved!
Introducing The Lovely Abbi Symes…
I’ve known Abbi a couple of years now and we now work together in the same field.
Abbi is a real shabby chic kind of girl and for as long as I’ve known her a real live wire!
Like anybody starting a new chapter or ending one, it’s common that you want to ‘reinvent’ yourself. This was the case with Abbi.
Abbi: “I don’t consider myself as a very girly girl, I’m used to throwing my hair up into a messy bun and putting on little makeup. I tend to make more of an effort at weekends if I’m going out. I have seen Jade’s photography before and wanted to have my photo’s taken. I’m starting a new job which requires me to be public facing. I wanted to be ‘girlyfied’ and to see what I actually looked like ‘dolled up’. I thought it would be a great oppotunity to let Jade work her magic!
“I love what Jade has done! She explained the makeup products she was using and the benefit’s of them to match with my skin on the areas I’m not happy with. Jade gave tips on how to really amplify the areas I do like, like my eyes and my brows, even making my lips fuller. I don’t wear alot of makeup so she showed me a routine with minimal products which will be easy for me to follow in the morning.
I really love the hairpiece! It makes a huge difference. I’m not used to having long hair and I’ve been trying to grow my hair for a while. I’ve never considered the ombre look, but after seeing this on me and how easy it is to put in, I have been won over. I’m actually in love with the lighter tones, which I never thought I would. I’m going to invest in one of these hairpieces very soon.
I’m so happy with this look! Thank You Jade for making me feel so glamorous. I may be requiring your services again! xxx”
…Before and After…
I am always open to new projects, I’d love to know if you would like to be involved in Pure Vanity.
Feel free to e-mail me or get in touch via Twitter or Facebook…
I hope you liked this post! Please let me know your thoughts, I love feedback.
Have a great week lovelies!
The weather has FINALLY perked up and all in time for my holiday!
We are going to our wonderful house in Spain! I can’t wait.
I haven’t been on holiday for a while since moving house, settling into a new job and starting my degree so it’s quite exciting for me.
I’m in desperate need of some MAJOR relaxation which can only mean one thing!
Sun, Sea and Sangria! Perfect!
Not to mention a few cheeky purchases! Well why not..
I need a new hand luggage case and I died and went to heaven when I saw this! OMG I need this in my life, how cute!?
Not only is it my all-time favourite print, good ol’ leopard, its got matching handbag and makeup bag!
I love good sexy combo!
I have decided to keep it quite simple with my outfit choices. I want to be in as little as possible (with the dignity intact of course)
I need a tan in my life! No more bottle tan, it’s onnnn! I will come back like a bronzed goddess.
In my holiday wardrobe so far I have these little beauties..
I can’t wait to sit on the roof terrace with drink in hand, day dreaming of all of the things that I am going to plan for when we get back!
I can’t wait not to have essays to write up, cases and deadlines to hand in, court attendance. Ah even thinking about it is making me realise how much I deserve a break.
I will definitely be taking some other little bits from Primark and bits I won’t miss over there so that I can keep them at the house so that next time I go out I don’t have to take any luggage! Such a good idea right? If I can resist the sales that is.. Toughy!
I hope you liked my outfit choices. What are your holiday must-haves! What will you be rocking in the sunshine?
I would love to know your thoughts!
Have a lovely week!
What a wonderful event to attend!
I had a fab time at Bloggers Love 1 year anniversary event at Embargo 59 in Chelsea.
We were treated to a catwalk showcasing the brands to keep an eye out for in 2014!
My personal favourite was Wear Once, the ladies were exceptionally lovely too not to mention looking gorgeous!
Cannot wait for the next event!
The pieces were to die for! Not to mention the very brave and beautiful models, baring it all in Bikini Fling bikinis!
What to watch out for!! …Some of the amazing brands that took part:
I hope all of the bloggers who attended enjoyed it as much as we did, next time feel free to come say hey!
Have a great week!
